"Mr President, climate change has an impact on security, peace and stability in the world. We must thank Mr Tarand for his work.
It is regrettable that climate change remains in the shadow of the financial crisis. The effects of climate change are often dramatic, and primarily target the world’s poorest and often most densely-populated areas. We should prepare for climate change. The communities that are affected by climate change should be helped to prepare and to adapt to changes in their living conditions. The most vulnerable victims of climate change are still women and children who need special care. This report signals to the European External Action Service Parliament’s desire that this important matter be given serious attention in EU policies."@en1
