lpv:translated text	"In spite of my recognition of the great effort the rapporteur has put into this report and the negotiation of essential compromises, I was unfortunately unable to support the final version of this report. It contains a generally-worded ban on fracking in ‘sensitive’ areas, which risks being interpreted in an extremely broad fashion. Another paragraph, while allowing the extraction of this raw material, indicates that it should be subject to CO2 prices under the emissions trading scheme. Even within the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, in which I was shadow rapporteur, a significant majority of the rapporteur’s sensible proposals were re-worded for the worse and amendments seeking to create the conditions for the exploration and exploitation of unconventional fossil fuels were rejected, while a series of incoherent and, unfortunately, at times, nonsensical paragraphs were adopted, such as those stating that shale gas extraction poses a threat to developing countries. I was unable to vote in favour of a report that will provide an argument in support of the Commission’s unbridled efforts to extend its ‘green legislation’, which is already having a negative impact on the competitiveness of our industries, especially in countries like Poland."@en1
