"I support this report as I consider that SIS II (the second generation Schengen Information System) is an essential instrument with which to increase the security of the Schengen Area and, at the same time, ensure more effective intergovernmental management of the system, which will considerably improve data protection and the fundamental rights of individuals. This report therefore allows the European Union and its citizens, and the States and citizens of the Schengen Area outside the European Union, to take advantage as quickly as possible of the benefits of this new system."@en1
