"I would like to express my concern, as I have before, that Europe, its public authorities and private undertakings did not, at the time, avoid and resist the magnate Mr Mittal, who is now provoking European workers and relocating his activities.
A genuine EU policy must, as the Vice-President of the Commission said, reindustrialise Europe and prevent relocations and the constant threats and provocations by Mr Mittal against the stability of some of the best-trained workers in the world, in steelworks that should not be closed but strengthened in order to come through the crisis.
The solution does not lie in restructuring, but in work. The European steel industry is competitive, but obviously robbery, chaos and relocation are not acceptable."@en1
