"Mr President, at the moment, European industry as a whole is going through a difficult period, and the outlook is not at all encouraging. This is especially true of the car industry. Competitiveness in this sector needs to be stimulated, and the action plan adopted by the Commission to this end focuses precisely on innovation and making the necessary investments in this field. The plan addresses both internal and external problems, and is aimed at the regulation and relaunch of the sector. Market conditions must be improved and the car industry must be supported more in the global market.
As for my country, Romania has the capacity to manufacture cars with cutting-edge industrial technology, and the new Dacia models fully confirm this. The role of the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund has become more important in the context of the crisis, offering support to employees within the sector."@en1
