". There is a massive wave of discontent in the EU today amongst citizens of individual Member States. It is fair to say that the demonstrators are right. They just want to work and live a decent life. The statistics for unemployment growth show that they are right. Between 2008 and mid-2012, the unemployment rate has climbed from 7 % to 10.4 %. Therefore, job creation, quality employment and decent work are crucial in overcoming the current crisis. I am aware of the problems in the economic and monetary union, and we even propose solutions, but the problem lies in the implementation of solutions and putting them into practice, or their differing application in each of the Member States. I agree with the Commission’s motion, that investment in factories and businesses is required in order to support European industry and in the interest of growth and employment; at the same time we must also eliminate the unfair advantage compared with other sectors, so that public funding for the support of industry does not damage economic competition and so that support or various advantages are provided selectively in the name of solidarity in the most disadvantaged regions."@en1
