Social economy enterprises located in the European Union employ about 11 million people, accounting for 6 % of the total workforce and 10 % of all European enterprises. Thus, more than 2 million enterprises have contributed significantly to the conception of a new European social model and the goals enshrined in the Europe 2020 strategy. I believe that this report, which provides new incentives to set up social enterprises, can create vocational opportunities for thousands of Europeans, mainly in the health, welfare and environmental sectors, because they are growing fast in the economy as a whole. I believe it is essential to strengthen the support for the Erasmus For Young Entrepreneurs programme to improve its attractiveness and visibility, including in the social economy."@en1
