I voted in favour of the proposal for a regulation on the approval of agricultural and forestry vehicles. The Regulation lays down the market surveillance requirements for vehicles, systems, components or separate technical units which are subject to approval in accordance with this Regulation. It also lays down market surveillance requirements for parts and equipment intended for these vehicles. The Union is a contracting party to the Agreement of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) concerning the adoption of uniform technical prescriptions for wheeled vehicles, equipment and parts which can be fitted to and/or used on wheeled vehicles and the conditions for reciprocal recognition of approvals granted on the basis of these prescriptions. To simplify type-approval legislation, it is advisable to repeal all individual directives without reducing the level of protection. The requirements laid down in these directives should be carried over in this Regulation or in delegated acts adopted on the basis of this Regulation and, if applicable, replaced with references to the corresponding UNECE regulations. To reduce the administrative burden associated with the type-approval process, vehicle manufacturers should be allowed to request type-approval in accordance with this Regulation."@en1
