". − I voted in favour of the report as I believe it continues to be necessary to maintain a system through which the decisions and proceedings of the European Parliament are accessible to citizens of the Union regardless of their nationality and the language they speak. Drawing up verbatim reports solely in their original language will result in greater budget and resource savings and at the same time uphold the principle of multilingualism. This is particularly important for maintaining the cultural and linguistic identity of all citizens, and also so as not to create certain hierarchies in terms of the official languages of the Union. In addition, the changes will not affect the system of simultaneous interpretation, which will continue to be done in all official languages of the Union."@en1
