". I believe that improving the cross-border consumer credit market would generate European added value by stimulating the economy. Consumers therefore need to be better informed about the opportunities to access consumer credit in other Member States. Unfortunately, cross-border consumer credit accounts for less than 2 % of the total credit market, despite the fact that the definitive harmonisation of some key aspects of credit law has significantly raised the level of consumer protection in Europe. I am voting in favour of this report because I believe it is essential to safeguard consumer rights, and make it easier to obtain consumer credit in Member States other than the home State and to buy products from anywhere in Europe."@en1
