The text adopted by the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection is a balanced text that seems to take account of the real reasons why some of the Directive’s objectives have not been achieved. However, I would have given greater consideration to the impact this crisis has had on citizens and the consequent widespread mistrust of consumer credit. Within the European Union, the situation can vary significantly from Member State to Member State.
