This report examines the implementation of the Directive on consumer credit agreements, adopted in 2008. The Consumer Credit Directive has two objectives: guaranteeing a high level of consumer protection and introducing a common legal framework for consumer credit agreements. It is about facilitating the opening up of national markets and promoting cross-border consumer credit in order to strengthen the internal market and thus also the monopolistic concentration in that sector. We recognise the positive aspects of the report, in particular the reference to the problems relating to consumer protection, such as the lack of information, SMS loans, the lack of consumer protection, the need for strict monitoring of advertising and marketing practices. We appreciate the concerns and considerations expressed in the report in this respect. Finally, to sum up, the report contains two contradictory aspects: the positive and necessary consumer protection and the negative considerations on the single market."@en1
