lpv:translated text	". − The new Protocol will further strengthen mutual cooperation in the fishing sector and will ensure implementation of responsible and sustainable fisheries policies. It will allow the EU fleet to fish in non-EU waters, maintain a European presence in distant-water fisheries and protect the interests of the European fisheries sector and of consumers. It should be noted that it is very important to ensure that fishing opportunities to be used are supported by credible scientific data and knowledge. Furthermore, taking account of environmental, social and economic concerns, the rational exploitation of fishery resources must be strengthened.
