As the world has unfortunately experienced, the various accidents that have occurred over the years, for example the accident in the Gulf of Mexico, have shown that offshore oil and gas exploration and exploitation entail grave dangers and require effective measures for regulation and control to protect workers, communities and ecosystems, placing them above the profits of the multinationals in the sector."@en1
