"Madam President, I voted for this report and I am very satisfied with the work that has been done by the rapporteur, Wim van de Camp. The rapporteur, himself, rides a motorbike and I think that that is very important in terms of the report. He understands the issue. I believe that Mr van de Camp has achieved a fair balance. This touches on one of Parliament’s main objectives: road safety. I am particularly pleased with the emphasis on the anti-lock brake system and the combined brake system, and on the requirement for properly fitted daytime running lights. We know that motorbike riders are eight times more likely to be involved in an accident than drivers of other types of vehicles. We Europeans must work together to reduce the number of deaths on our roads."@en1
