I voted in favour of the Council Decision to conclude the Agreement between the United States of America and the European Union on the coordination of energy-efficiency labelling programmes for office equipment. The EU should work towards harmonisation of certification schemes as the main means of improving the energy consumption of office equipment through the EU Energy Star Programme which provides both parties with third-party certification. Single systems of accreditation benefit the consumer by simplifying the market and increasing transparency. They also remove a regulatory burden, which in turn will lead to lower prices for consumers."@en1
