lpv:translated text	"Mr President, in 1991 Cambodia signed the Paris Peace Agreement, in which it undertook to respect and protect human rights. Twenty-one years later, restrictions on freedom of expression, attacks on independent media and violence against human rights defenders are the order of the day in Cambodia. One example would be the arrest of the 13 women who organised a peaceful protest against their eviction in connection with a new spatial planning project in May of this year. The owner of a radio station and leader of the Association of Democrats in Cambodia has also been imprisoned for 20 years for allegedly revealing information on the repression of other opposition activists. The flagrant violations of human rights by the Cambodian authorities affect women, children and minority social groups. In view of this situation, it would be appropriate to remind the Cambodian Government of its duty to meet its international obligations and implement the recommendations of the UN’s special envoy regarding political reforms. The latter include guaranteeing free and fair elections, with the participation of all citizens in exercising their democratic freedoms."@en1
