"Mr President, I, too, find the situation in Cambodia regrettable. As we all know, four human rights activists were recently accused of anti-state crime and were sentenced by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court on 1 October 2012. We are talking here about a radio station accused of a crime against the state because it aired opinions that criticised the government. However, as we are probably all aware, Cambodian radio stations are controlled by the government or government bodies. This is an alarming situation, especially in view of the forthcoming general election in 2013. I urge the Commission to send observers to that election. The previous observers set out clear recommendations on reforming the electoral process and we must verify whether or not they have been implemented."@en1
