lpv:translated text	"Madam President, we are all aware of the financial and other difficulties faced by European farmers because of the unfavourable weather conditions and the extreme drought in certain regions across the Union. For instance, in Romania, drought destroyed almost half of cereal crops and industrial crops this year, and this situation is causing serious losses to the agricultural sector. To help mitigate these difficulties, I believe that a number of measures need to be adopted urgently at EU level. The European Union must show solidarity with farmers who have seen their work go to waste because of this year’s drought. The national and local authorities have done everything they can in this situation, but EU support is essential. The European Union has created the EU Solidarity Fund to help people in regions affected by natural disasters such as flooding. Solutions also need to be found in the event of drought, as this phenomenon has major implications for both farmers and food security."@en1
