I am therefore very pleased that Parliament has given its accord to the launch of negotiations. In order for these to be successful it is, however, essential that the negotiators ensure that concessions are made on the Japanese side, notably with regard to lifting of non-tariff barriers and public procurement (particularly for postal services and transport).
