Your predecessor in office has said that the Data Retention Directive would not have been adopted nowadays in its present form. For me, that rings a lot of alarm bells. The experiences which have been recounted here are also not particularly convincing. There are fewer successes than promised and more frequent access than anticipated. Something is wrong!
