lpv:translated text	"The European Union and its Member States are the leading contributors to development aid in the world today: more than half of the funds allocated to aid for developing countries come from the European Union and its Member States. We must be constantly vigilant about how these funds are used and continue to fight against some of the imperfections that characterise their use. I therefore welcome the resolution of the European Parliament on the future of EU development policy. I believe that we must establish priorities in the aid we want to provide to developing countries in order to add real added value to the Union’s actions. In this regard, the resolution proposes the idea of focusing European aid on the countries that need it most and gradually reducing the aid provided to middle-income countries. I also support the idea of involving emerging countries more in the financing of future development policies and in cooperation agreements with developing countries."@en1
