Unfortunately, there is still a lack of visibility of Union citizenship and lack of awareness of the concrete benefits it provides. I am therefore supporting 2013 as the Year of European Citizens. The general objective of the Year of European Citizens will be to enhance awareness of the rights attached to Union citizenship in order to help citizens make full use of their right to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States."@en1
