I am fundamentally against using this agreement to punish Israel. Some of our fellow Members have used this debate to give spiteful political speeches against Israel. It annoys me that we are applying double standards to countries. We are all trying to settle the conflict in the Middle East, but the solution does not lie in applying trade pressure to one side. This is particular true if even Commissioner De Gucht believes that the current mechanisms relating to the control of products manufactured in Israeli settlements adequate."@en1
