The European Parliament, in the drafting of the new budget, places emphasis on support for sustainable growth, competition and employment, and especially for SMEs and young people. For our country, where the unemployment rate among young people is as high as 55 % (a negative record in the EU), a consistent focus on this particular target group is an absolute priority. At the same time, the text makes it clear that any savings at EU level, however necessary, cannot be made at the expense of initiatives that support the European economy and growth. With this in mind, I voted against an amendment which affects, amongst other things, the agricultural production of certain produce in our country."@en1
