"Mr President, in economic and trade relations between the EU and the USA in transport, the restrictions on foreign ownership of US airlines need to be reformed. The lack of reciprocity between EU and US rules in maritime and air transport, and the ongoing imbalance between European firms’ ability to undertake cabotage in the US market and US firms’ ability to do so in the EU, is a hurdle that must be overcome, to unlock the true potential of the transatlantic economic relationship.
I also consider the interoperability agreement between the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), Galileo and the Global Positioning System (GPS) to be extremely important: this will enable European and US industries to develop, along with applications that use satellite positioning systems.
Finally, in the context of economic and trade relations between the EU and the US, cooperation in the field of standards and legislation on the protection of personal data is becoming increasingly important."@en1
