The crisis has highlighted the existence of negative views in some States, in many areas of institutional or political representation, which is that those who want to solve the problems of the crisis bring up the question of people’s rights – as though restricting rights would automatically give us a way out of the difficulties. These rights are variously those of the person as such, of workers, of women or men who have an occupation, and often they are rights denied to citizens. I believe that rebuilding this link between the person – the worker, that is the function of production – and citizenship is an indispensable political and cultural choice. And the Year of Citizens will help us in that respect too."@en1
