"I voted for this resolution as I deplore the escalation of violence against the Syrian civilian population by President al-Assad’s regime. This is a criminal attack on the right to life and people’s safety, in particular, for children and women. If the action of the EU and the international community fails in Syria, the stability of the Middle East will be compromised. Security in Europe will also be seriously threatened in several ways, from terrorism to arms proliferation, from illegal immigration to energy security."@en1
