lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of this report because, on 22 March 2011, an agreement was signed between the European Union and six Central American countries, consolidating concessions and liberalising trade for certain agricultural products. This made the EU more open to imports and the EU will therefore be able to increase its capacity to export certain products to the Central American countries. The agreement also includes a stabilisation mechanism for bananas according to which preferential customs duties can be suspended if a certain import volume is reached (applicable until 2020). It is very important to ensure the effectiveness of both the stabilisation mechanism for bananas and the safeguard clause."@en1
