"This report contains many ideas that are in line with those we are developing in the Left Front. Its promotion of renewable marine energies and, in particular, wave and tidal energy, is one such example. It is a choice for the future in which Member States should invest. Given that support for sustainable tourism, training and access for young people to maritime professions, along with the creation of new specialisations, could contribute to the sustainable development of fishing regions, the ambition to safeguard the ecological balance and biodiversity of the Atlantic area and public support for the modernisation of the fishing fleet are among the ideas that I support. However, I should like to express my strong opposition to creating a macro-region designed as a hub of European competitiveness, just as I reject the idea that we should bend to the will of private investors in order to protect the Atlantic area. I therefore abstained."@en1
