I voted in favour of the agreement on mutual recognition in relation to conformity assessment between the European Community and New Zealand. Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) are agreements on the mutual recognition of the conformity assessment of regulated products. An MRA gives each of its parties the authority to test and certify products against the regulatory requirements of the other party, in its own territory and prior to export. Hence, MRAs seek to lift technical barriers to trade while safeguarding the health, safety and environmental objectives of each party."@en1
