"I voted for the Resolution on the proposal for a directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime. Victims of crime should be recognised and treated in a respectful, sensitive and professional manner without discrimination of any kind based on any ground such as race, colour, ethnic or social origin, genetic features, language, religion or belief, political or any other opinion, membership of a national minority, property, birth, disability, age, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, residence status or state of health. Information and advice provided by competent authorities, victim support services and restorative justice services should as far as possible be given through a range of media in a manner which can be understood by the victim. The victim should have the right to challenge a decision finding that there is no need for translation or interpretation, in accordance with procedures in national law. Victims should also receive information on any right to appeal of a decision to release the offender, if such a right exists in national law."@en1
