"The report by Antonyia Parvanova and Teresa Jiménez-Becerril Barrio was adopted by a large majority (611 votes in favour) and I am pleased about that. This report seeks to strengthen the rights of victims in the European Union. The European Union has set itself the objective of maintaining and developing an area of freedom, security and justice, the cornerstone of which is the principle of mutual recognition of judgements and other decisions made by the judicial authorities in civil and criminal matters in the EU. The report stresses the need to improve support services to victims who are exposed to intimidation or other harm during criminal proceedings."@en1
