"Over the years there has been a wide range of opinions and positions on the different European political leaders, which has ultimately led to delays in defining public policy in the different sectoral areas. I completely agree with the creation of a ‘federation of nation states’, as announced today by the President of the Commission himself, along with the strengthening of economic and monetary union and a single supervisory mechanism aimed at ensuring greater banking stability in the euro area. I also believe that it is vital that the austerity measures adopted by the Member States be reconciled with new measures to promote growth and employment. Concrete actions aimed at stimulating economic recovery and job creation should be set out, along with a new industrial policy, the strengthening of research and innovation, and incentives for entrepreneurship. At a time of great economic and social difficulty, I believe that the EU should take particular care of the most vulnerable, strengthening the prevailing sense of solidarity among its peoples. Finally, I would draw the attention of the Commission and the respective Member States to the fact that it is crucial to strengthen the EU budget for 2014-2020, adapting it to the development needs of the various economies and regions."@en1
