"From a social and environmental perspective, a green economy is a sustainable economy which involves a social order based on both gender equality and social justice, regardless of gender, ethnicity, colour, religion or political opinion. The role of women in the green economy in several Member States continues to be ignored, thereby creating numerous forms of discrimination in terms of lost entitlements, such as social welfare, health insurance, salary and pension rights. In this context, I think that, across the EU, environmental policies at all levels must include a gender equality perspective in defining, implementing and monitoring the promotion of gender mainstreaming as an instrument for good governance against the background of the Europe 2020 strategy, as well as in strengthening gender equality and social justice. I also believe that Member States must promote specific research and studies on women and gender equality as part of the green economy so that the gender perspective is included in environmental protection and environmental impact assessment studies."@en1
