lpv:spoken text	"I support the ongoing efforts to recast the 2003 directive on a common system of taxation applicable to interest and royalty payments made between associated companies of different Member States, but I abstained in the final vote on this consultative European Parliament resolution due to its effective call for minimum rates of corporation tax. Under the EU treaties, taxation is a matter of national competence where the principle of unanimity applies. Discussion on this issue has to have regard to the needs of geographically peripheral Member States whose prosperity and employment levels depend, to a large extent, on their capacity to attract foreign direct investment, particularly in the current very difficult economic circumstances."@en1
