Moreover, the EU is responsible for adopting measures with the aim of establishing or ensuring the functioning of the internal market. A free service for the Member States called the Internal Market Information System has been created to improve the exchange of information within the internal market. I am voting for this report because I consider the system a fast and safe means of cross-border information exchanges and administrative cooperation, with more than 6 000 authorities registered. I should also like to stress that all the personal data and information in circulation among the various competent authorities should be collected, processed and used strictly for legitimate purposes and in line with data protection rules."@en1
