While the new legislation did strengthen pharmacovigilance at EU level, there are some potential weaknesses in the system in the texts on this issue that still need to be addressed. I voted in favour of the report on pharmacovigilance as it ensures stronger surveillance on the use of medicines and refines the system with regard to disclosure and notification of information to stakeholders. The legal framework is thereby now strengthened, ensuring higher levels of transparency and safety."@en1
