"I voted in favour of the report on pharmacovigilance. This surveillance measure, implemented by the Commission and the supervisory authorities in 2001, was reformed in 2010, partly as a result of the Mediator affair. I particularly support the introduction of the following measures: the introduction of an automatic urgent procedure when a medicine is withdrawn from the market, the creation of a new trigger mechanism for this procedure, the introduction of a transparency obligation for businesses (which must declare if there are any safety reasons for the voluntary withdrawal of a medicine), and the drawing up of an exhaustive list of medicines subject to additional surveillance."@en1
