However, Europe is facing increasing requirements for investment in transport infrastructure. In this context, I welcome the Europe 2020 project bond initiative. I think this stage is essential for attracting private sector financing in the area of transport, energy and telecommunications infrastructures, having great potential to contribute to job creation and economic growth. The pilot project will allow investors to become familiar with the new financing structures, while supporting a resource-efficient economy in line with the Europe 2020 strategy. I voted for this report because I believe that innovative financial instruments have an extremely important role in attracting additional funding from the private sector for key infrastructures."@en1
