I and many of my fellow Members in the German conservative group (CDU/CSU) have voted in favour of the resolution, as we expressly welcome the decisions of the European Council. Unfortunately, however, the text of the resolution also contains elements that we do not support. We continue to reject the idea of the communitarisation of sovereign and bank debt, as careful budget management must not be exploited by those in debt. We are also opposed to the passages of the resolution that call for common mechanisms to resolve banks and guarantee customer deposits as well as steps towards common debt issuance."@en¹
