The fact that the very states which produce the majority of counterfeit products are not covered by this agreement means that the entire coalition of the willing is completely pointless. It is futile and also brings huge problems for us when it comes to fundamental rights. The whole agreement is characterised by a complete lack of legal certainty. The wording is completely open and means both everything and nothing. This is not what the European economy needs in terms of competitiveness. From this perspective, ACTA represents a move in totally the wrong direction. My third point is that you are taking the approach of making Internet service providers into deputy sheriffs. This is something which could be described as privatising the law and is completely unacceptable. When it is a question of fundamental rights, we must take the political decisions here. Waiting for the Court of Justice of the European Union makes no sense at all. You must decide for yourselves and say a definite ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ tomorrow."@en1
