"The one advantage of the crisis is that it makes us ask ourselves relevant questions. This report has the answers. That is why I voted in favour of it. However, let us use our strengths and our words wisely: It is not enough to identify all of the options available to us to attract investment in Europe and thus revive our economy. We have to focus our efforts on the texts which will have the force of law in the coming years. I wish, of course, to talk about the guidelines of the Europe 2020 strategy and of how they translate at national level. I wish, particularly, to talk about Horizon 2020, the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, the COSME programme for enterprises and SMEs and reform of the Structural Funds. However, not everything is decided within Europe. We must show pragmatism towards the outside world and require products arriving in our territory to comply with the same health and social standards as our own products. Otherwise, we have unfair competition. We must impose reciprocity in our trade. It is already there in the text of our agreements. Why is the Commission not doing anything?"@en1
