"Labour MEPs supported this report as it makes many important recommendations on meeting our target of ‘good’ water status for our rivers and lakes by 2015. However, we have reservations about the call for universal water metering, as this is a decision best left to individual Member States, which are better able to assess the full impact of such a measure in terms of cost and impact on consumers. We believe that individual countries should be able to adopt anti-poverty measures such as social tariffs and similar schemes."@en1
