"I voted in favour of the report by my colleague, Ms Serracchiani, on establishing a single European railway area. This agreement, designed to optimise the supply and quality of transport services for freight and international travellers, is another step towards integrating rail transport. We have reached an agreement that ensures better use of public funds by monitoring financial flows. In addition, the directive provides for the establishment of independent national regulators so as to make sure that the rules are applied in the Member States. This is therefore another step towards creating a single European rail area."@en1
