lpv:translated text	"Mr President, around 250 000 children under the age of five affected by severe acute malnutrition in the Sahel region have received food aid in the first four months of this year, as part of the response to the current food crisis. It is also predicted that at least a million children will need life-saving aid during 2012 and the number of centres specialising in this type of care has risen to 5 200 in the nine African States affected by the crisis. The peak in the number of people needing help will be reached in the next three months because the region is starting to face the driest and hardest season of the year. As well as the food crisis, other needs are mounting up in Mali, where the protracted armed conflict has forced 170 000 people to abandon their homes. This resolution reaffirms the urgent need for further funds together with more international action for those who are living in this insecure situation and in particular for children and women who are in conditions of extreme suffering in Sahel, threatened by dangerous illnesses such as cholera, or victims of violence as in Mali. Mr President, I respectfully ask for a roll-call vote on this resolution."@en1
