"The motion for a resolution, which is the result of the work carried out by the members of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, is very interesting and contains references which I believe will be useful in helping the Commission understand possible future single market scenarios. However I voted against the resolution because I believe there are premises in the text that are wrong. Rating the single market too highly as a solution to the crisis or claiming that its completion would automatically lead to growth throughout the Union means saying things that are not true. Our companies need the single market, but the reasons for the crisis are to be found elsewhere and are much more deep-seated and serious."@en1
