However, unfortunately, they have been hardest hit at EU level by the economic crisis and the structural problems in the labour market. In some Member States, the situation is alarming, and I think that it is imperative for us to adopt measures immediately to improve their situation, both at EU and national level. I recommend that Member States focus greater attention on this section of the population and include in the structure of the future strategic frameworks well-financed axes, specifically aimed at youth employment. We must take advantage of every opportunity provided by EU programmes and policies so that we can guarantee Europe’s young people a prosperous future, devoid of uncertainty."@en1
