"In recent years, the Internet has become a tool which is used with increasing frequency in our everyday lives, both professionally and personally, with its whole infrastructure expanding enormously at European and global level. Any disruption to this network could cause substantial losses for administrative bodies, businesses or ordinary citizens. Therefore, I think that a common policy is required to protect these infrastructures, and that computer emergency response teams (CERT) also need to be set up, even to the extent of devising and implementing national cybersecurity strategies. Last but not least, it would be useful to include systems in the areas of health care, food, water supply, nuclear research and the nuclear industry among the sectors targeted for cooperation between EU Member States and third countries with the aim of developing warning systems and exchanging good practices."@en1
