lpv:translated text	"Last year, 2011, was the European Year of Voluntary Activities Promoting Active Citizenship. The EU allocated funds and carried out awareness-raising campaigns to develop peoples’ sense of civic duty to engage in this very important social activity. The lessons learnt from this have been brought together by Mr Scurria in a report on cross-border voluntary activities, which has been adopted by Parliament. The aim of the Committee on Culture and Education is to promote the establishment of an EU portal dedicated to cross-border volunteering, which will not only carry material on jobs and social integration, but will also act as a stimulus for the creation of a qualified, organised humanitarian aid corps, a proper professional body of volunteers serving people in difficulty."@en1
